Food Security Support Program “United Communities”

The All-Ukrainian Association of Communities, with the support of the USAID Agriculture and Rural Development Program (AGRO), has been successfully implementing the “Food Security Support Program “United Communities” since the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

This project has brought together cities and villages, charitable foundations and international donors, Ukrainian companies and volunteers around a common goal – to help war-affected communities survive, recover and develop despite the extremely difficult conditions.

Many communities were literally on the brink of a humanitarian and economic crisis. People needed the most basic necessities – food, medicine, hygiene products, etc. That is why we supported the communities through the logistics of essential goods to ensure their livelihoods and support their residents.

This project includes several key components:

LOGISTICS – transportation of critically needed goods for residents of frontline and de-occupied communities and displaced persons, as well as material and technical resources to restore and support critical infrastructure facilities and small agricultural producers.

SEEDS OF VICTORY – organizing the timely and transparent delivery and distribution of seeds from international companies, enabling community residents to grow vegetables in their home gardens and ensure food security for their families and communities.

Provided assistance within the project:

– Delivered cargo: over 2200 tons, including 1230 tons of seeds, of which 20.5 tons are vegetable seeds;

– Received assistance: almost 500,000 people, including 2713 internally displaced persons (IDPs);

– 273,000 households received vegetable seeds;

– 1764 farmers received corn, rapeseed, and sunflower seeds;

– 123 farmers received absorbent;

– Nearly 250 transports were carried out, and 1500 parcels were sent.

In total, assistance was delivered to almost 1000 communities. The donors included 88 communities and 34 organizations, 10 of which were seed companies.
